By accessing or using Gurukul ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you may not use the Service.
These Terms apply to all users of the Service, including schools, administrators, principals, teachers, accountants, students, and parents who access the platform. Where a school enters into a separate written agreement with us, that agreement prevails over these Terms to the extent of any conflict.
If you are accepting these Terms on behalf of a school or other organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
To use the Service, you must have an account, which is typically created or provisioned by your school. Schools registering for Gurukul must be genuine educational institutions and may be asked to provide valid documentation proving their status; we reserve the right to verify this information and to decline or revoke registration if the requirements are not met or the information provided is inaccurate.
As an account holder, you are responsible for:
Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized use of your account. Schools are responsible for managing the access levels of their staff and for promptly removing access when a user leaves. Where a user is a minor, the school or a parent/guardian is responsible for provisioning and supervising that account.
Gurukul is a comprehensive school management platform that provides educational institutions with tools for:
We continuously improve the Service and may add, change, or remove features over time. We will give reasonable notice of material changes that significantly reduce core functionality.
You agree to use the Service responsibly and in a manner that respects other users and the integrity of the platform. In particular, you agree not to:
Schools are expected to use the platform in line with their own codes of conduct and applicable education regulations.
Some features of the Service require a paid subscription. By subscribing:
Fees collected from parents and students through the platform (such as school fees) are set and owned by the school; Gurukul facilitates their collection but is not a party to the underlying fee arrangement. If a payment for the Service fails or remains overdue, we may suspend access to paid features until the balance is settled.
The Service and its original content, features, and functionality - including its software, design, and branding - are owned by Gurukul and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from the Service except as expressly permitted.
We grant your school a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access and use the Service for its internal educational operations during the term of your subscription.
Your school retains all rights to the data it enters into the Service. We claim no ownership over your student records, financial data, lesson plans, or other academic content. Student work and records belong to the student and the school, not to Gurukul.
Gurukul processes student and school data as a data processor on behalf of your school, which acts as the data controller. All such data is encrypted in transit and at rest, stored on secure cloud infrastructure, backed up regularly, and accessible only to authorized personnel. You grant us the limited permissions needed to host, process, and display your data for the purpose of operating the Service. For full details on what we collect and how we protect it, please review our Privacy Policy at /privacypolicy.
We work hard to keep the Service available and performant, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or factors beyond our control. Where practical, we will schedule planned maintenance outside core school hours and provide advance notice.
We provide support through the contact channels listed in these Terms and aim to respond to issues promptly, prioritizing those that affect core functionality or data integrity.
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
While we strive for accuracy and reliability, we do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that any defects will be corrected. Schools remain responsible for verifying critical records - such as marks, financial totals, and official reports - before relying on them for formal decisions.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gurukul shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data or profits, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Gurukul, its officers, employees, and partners from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third party's rights.
This obligation survives the termination of your account and your use of the Service.
We may suspend or terminate access to the Service, without prior notice, for:
A school may also terminate its subscription in accordance with its plan or separate agreement. Upon termination, your right to use the Service stops immediately. Your data will be handled in accordance with the retention provisions of our Privacy Policy, including a window to export your data before deletion.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Nepal. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kathmandu, Nepal.
We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you should stop using the Service before they take effect.
